Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Lent is the period of fasting and reflection leading up to Easter. During Lent, we try to make sacrifices that show we are ready to accept the wonderful gift of Christ's ultimate sacrifice - his death and resurrection for us.This morning, our prayer liturgy focussed on the message of Lent and we were marked on our foreheads with ash to symbolise that from death comes new life.
