End of Year

Welcome to the final week of the year. What a year it has been! Our school has had changes such as the building of the new hall which is to be officially opened and named next year; the airconditioning of the library and the expected arrival of some new furniture early next year; we have had camps, expos, art shows, open nights, creek clean-ups, showcase afternoons, music and band performances; beautiful and reflective Prayer assemblies; merit awards for children covering a wide variety of personal, academic and sporting achievements; Japanese visitors; competitive success in sporting and debating areas; buddy programs; wonderful participation and significant awareness and fund-raising for various social justice issues; excursions and interesting and fun units of work. Our year seven students have proven themselves to be reliable leaders and role models - we will miss them all and wish them every success as they enter secondary education. We look to our year seven students of 2011 and know they will also lead our school with maturity and enthusiasm. From the library point of view, book week was a big success with everyone getting into the spirit; lunchtime activities have proven to be popular - special thanks to our library monitors; library lessons have been enjoyed by all and have allowed Mrs Sorbello to get to know a wide group of students; parent helpers have been instrumental in helping with many and varied library jobs - a big thanks to them; our book fair and the funds raised by book club have allowed us to purchase many more resources for use by staff and students; our parent/staff library has been moved and revamped and is now open for borrowing and exchange; and lastly, the library blog has grown from a little idea to a great showcase of children's learnings, information about what's on and a way to access informative and fun sites - all in all, a busy and productive year. Congratulations to everyone who has contributed in a positive way to make St Anthony's the unique and wonderful community it is! The library staff - Mrs Margaret Milligan, Mrs Lee Seery, Mrs Judy Sorbello and Mrs Maria Wilson - thank students, staff and parents for their cooperation in returning resources and for making the year such a busy and enjoyable one. We wish everyone God's peace and abundant blessings as we enter this time of rest and relaxation. We look forward to seeing you in the library in 2011!
