Prayer Assembly May 30

Thankyou to Miss Morrissey and 5/6J for their beautiful prayer about our wonderful country. The children have been working with the My Place program in History and they shared with us on Wednesday, their thoughts about Australia. The following creed was written by the children and the powerpoint shows images of our great land, accompanied by the words of Dorothea Mackellar's poem My Country, read by the author.
Creed for Australia
We believe in God the Father who created the beauty of the land.
We believe in Jesus Christ who taught us to respect all people – the aborigines, the migrants, our next door neighbour.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who works through us all.
We believe in the spirit of Australian mateship when we are ready to help others through the bad times such as floods, bushfires and cyclones.
We believe in the joy of celebrating the good times. We give thanks for this.
We believe in freedom, justice and peace in our land. We value our right to elect our own government without fear and our right for education for all.
We strive to be a tolerant nation so that we will all live together in harmony and peace. We welcome the gifts of our multicultural society.
We want everyone to be treated fairly so that there will be no poverty or hunger.
We believe that we are caretakers of our unique environment.
We believe that we will help make this possible through God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
